Wheel Of Life

This exercise helps identify the areas in your life, and which you are making a priority and which you are neglecting.

This Wheel Of Life is made up of 8 segments which represent key areas of your life. Some of these areas will be key areas in a lot of peoples lives, such as a "Finance" segment or a "Home Life" segment. Others will be more specific to you, such as "Home Education" or "Needlecraft".

First work out what your segments will represent. Here are some popular ideas to get you started

  • Business
  • Work Life
  • Finance
  • Personal Development
  • Exercise
  • Relationship
  • Hobbies
  • Parenting
  • Family & Friends
  • Investments
  • Health
  • Home Improvement/DIY
  • Community
  • Religion
  • Charity/Fundraising
  • Dating Life
  • Volunteering
  • Savings
EACH SEGMENT

Each segment is split up by 10 dotted lines which form the wheel's inner rings, starting from the centre of the wheel. You then take that segment of your life and consider what the best version of "Home Life" would look like for you - what a 10 out of 10 would be. Once you’ve got a good idea of what a 10 would be, hold that thought.

Wheel of Life Example

Next consider where you are currently at with "Home Life" - are you a 7/10 or a 3/10? Once you’ve got that number, shade in the corresponding segment. Then move on to the next segment and so forth.

  • Which areas do you want to focus on?
  • What do you need to do to be able to shade to the next number on those segments?
  • What do you need to do to maintain the remaining segments?

Wheel Of Life Exercise

Wheel of Life
  1. Label your wheel segments
  2. Think about what a 10 / 10 would be for each segment
  3. Score each segment according to how well you feel things are going in that segment of your life
  4. Assess which segments you want to improve on and which you are happy to maintain
  5. Going through each segment of your "improve" list, look at what you could do to increase your score by 1
  6. Going through each segment of your "maintain" list, look at what you need to do to keep that number consistent
  7. Create a plan and goals to get you there (this is super useful to do with your coach)
  8. Revisit the Wheel of Life when you feel called to or every quarter year
